Cheech Marin’s Chicano Art Collection

One thing that rivals Cheech Marin’s collection of jokes is his collection of art!  The Mexican-American comedian and actor first gained recognition in the 1970s while playing a pot-smoking hippie in the comedy act Cheech and Chong.  Since then, he has gone on to star in a number of films, establishishing his career as an actor, director and performer.

Yet, long before he started acting, Cheech had another obsession: art.  “You know, I was always educating myself in art from a very early age,” said Cheech. “I would go to the library, when I was young, and I would take out all the art books because I wanted to educate myself in art.”

Along the way, Cheech developed a passion for Chicano art and the talented painters behind the canvas.  His private collection of Chicano art is believed to be one of the largest and finest in the world.
